Diamond Lake Regional Trail
The Diamond Lake Regional Trail is an exciting Three Rivers Park District project that will eventually run from the Mississippi River to another trail system that connects to Lake Minnetonka. The route will go south through Dayton and Rogers into Corcoran, continue south into Medina before heading west to Baker Park. From there, the trail will run through the park before connecting with an existing trail that runs east-west. A final segment will connect the Luce Line State Trail and Dakota Rail Regional Trail, giving access to Lake Minnetonka.
Regional Trails are long term projects, sometimes taking 10-20+ years, as the Park District works only on a willing-seller basis to acquire route segments. Due to the timing of several previously approved projects in Corcoran, there may be an opportunity for some portions to be constructed soon.
Hackamore Road Trail
In addition to the greatly needed road improvements, the Hackamore Road Improvement Project was recently completed along with a new bituminous trail that was installed on the Corcoran side of Hackamore. This key stretch of trial will eventually connect to the Diamond Lake Regional Trail to the west to trails in Medina and Plymouth to the east.
Linear Park
Another exciting project is the Linear Park that will run along County Road 116. This project will provide a beautiful green open space buffer through the middle of our Town Center area. Starting near City Hall, this park will extend south past the future St. Therese Campus.
Bellwether Boardwalk
In the Northeast part of Corcoran, we will be building out a new city Park, Open Space Park and Boardwalk in the coming years. The over 20 acre open space park will be adjacent to a roughly 12 acre public park. A boardwalk, which will be constructed to give access to the park from the neighborhood. We anticipate moving forward with the next stages of planning soon, so make sure to check back for more information!
City Park Remaster, Other Parks & Trail News, Projects and more!
In late 2023 we interviewed several park consultants to help us refine and finalize our plans for City Park, and for our Parks and Trails system as a whole. After an extensive interview process, one firm - HKGI - stood above the rest and they were bought on board. Since then we have been working diligently on finalizing plans for the City Park Remaster, while continuing to secure funds for the number of upcoming parks & trails projects that are on the horizon.
